Almost there….

It has been a long time coming to get street legal per the Health Department, but now I’m very close to being completed with the changes they requested on my initial plan review. I have a follow up Plan Review meeting this Friday and if everything goes well I will get my Mobile Health Permit and can start the process of getting all the city business licenses that are needed.

Upcoming Events

This weekend we have two events that we will be working.  The first is Four Square Day on Saturday (4/16…kind of symbolic huh?). This will be held at Plant World on West Charleston from 3 PM to 11 PM. There is going to be 16 food trucks which by my count makes it the biggest food truck event in Las Vegas to date.

One Long Day Part III

I swear this will be the last part of this post, but to catch up here is the link to Part I and Part II.

Now back at my parents house with supplies in hand we once again get back into repairs. The plan is to drill a hole through the damaged panel and into the trailer frame and then to screw the panel to the frame. With drill in hand Brother JJ goes at it and drills through the panel with no issue but encounters some serious resistance when he hits the trailer frame.

One Long Day Part II

As stated previously we finally made it to the Costco Food Truck Fest with 30 minutes to spare before the start of the event. Normally we like at least an hour before an event to make sure we  have everything setup and tasting right before serving, but today we just had enough time to get all the machinery warmed up, start brewing and hope for the best.

ONE LONG DAY PART I

One Long Day Part I

This past Saturday (4/2) was one of the longest, most frustrating, and enjoyable days of my life. I’m going to cheat a little bit by including the First Friday event in the longest day equation because to me it was all one in the same. This will have been our 6th First Friday event and we have come a long way since the first event. All in all it was uneventful and not as busy for us as past First Friday’s, but fun just the same.

THAT WAS EXTREME

That was extreme

On Saturday we were at the Extreme Thing Festival at Desert Breeze Park. I had high expectations for this event from the previous years pictures and that it was an all day event. So armed to the teeth with more supplies then we have had for a single event to date we arrived early and parked right next to the main stage.

ALWAYS IMPROVING…

Always improving…

You know I count on friends, family, and trusted customers to tell me when one of my drinks is not up to par.  I work hard at making sure everything tastes right but there are times when a drink might not taste as expected and I want to know about it.  I’ve never been one to say I make the best espresso, latte, cappuccino, or what have you, but I strive to constantly improve the taste of my drinks.

More Woes….

Came home tonight from some pleasant conversation and coffee with a friend to find water spewing from the bottom of the Mobile Command Unit.  I quickly open it up to find water pump running continuously and the water just pouring out of the water heater. I quickly turn off the water pump and assess the damage.

My Health Department Woes

A few months back when I decided that I wanted to become a mobile coffee vendor I had no idea how to do that. What I did know were the basics, you have to have all the proper permits and licenses. So after a lot of reading of confusing and misleading regulations I thought I understood what I needed to do and what to look for in a vehicle to use. I even took the extra step to meet with a Health Department Inspector before purchasing what was then a Sno Cone trailer (now the Mobile Command Unit) to make sure it would pass a health inspection for what I wanted to use it for.

MARCH FIRST FRIDAY RECAP

March First Friday Recap

Another great First Friday is in the books. This month we introduced the Grouchy John’s Latte. Although there was not much of a demand for it the customers that did order them really seemed to enjoy it. And before you ask it’s a White Chocolate & Amaretto Latte. It is fantastic! Also in honor of St. Patricks Day we have a Shamrock Latte (Mocha & Peppermint Latte) on the menu for the month.  We went through 9 gallons of water, a little over 6 pounds of coffee, and 6 gallons of milk serving 85 drinks. Altogether it was a good night.
