What is it about being from the Emerald City that automatically makes people think that they are experts on all things coffee? It’s like saying that since I’m from Vegas I know about all things gambling better then someone from Atlantic City or Austin. Its just very pretentious.
Does Seattle have good coffee? Yes of course it does. It has some amazing coffee, but so does LA, Chicago, NYC, and believe it or not so does Las Vegas. True we don’t have as many places as Seattle does, but don’t forget Seattle is also the birth place of some of the worst coffee available today. It’s been my experience that you can get a amazing latte or shot of espresso anywhere you are because there will always be someone there who has a passion for their craft, you just need to be willing to seek it out. Now with all that being said, some of the best shots of espresso I’ve ever had was made in Seattle. One was at Caffe Vita and the other at Stumptown Coffee only a few blocks away. In the LA area I’ve had equally amazing espresso at LA Mill (Silver Lake), Intelligentsia (Pasadena), and Jones Coffee (Pasadena). And in our own valley, Sambalatte and Sunrise Coffee offer espresso that rival anything you can get in Seattle. So I appreciate that you are from Seattle (or Italy) but please try what we have to offer locally before passing judgment. Thanks.
